"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:6-7 KJV
The Apostle Paul provides us with a wonderfully simple and yet too often neglected formula to obtain the Peace of God in our lives. He tells us to be careful for nothing, which quite simply means don’t worry about a thing. This is easy to say and very hard to do, as it seems some unexpected concern lay quietly in wait around the next bend, ready to pounce as soon as it sees our smiling faces.
Now, you probably count yourself amongst the many believers who can say that we do go to God in prayer on a daily basis, asking for His blessing, provision, and protection upon ourselves and our loved ones. However, while we make sure to focus on the main concerns of the day and those items deemed to be most in need of prayer, how many of us can truthfully say that we ask God to bless and provide for even the smallest and seemingly insignificant needs in our lives?
You see, those tiny concerns and issues of our daily living may appear to be as pennies to us when compared to the $20 and $50 issues we spend the most time addressing in prayer. However, if you collect enough pennies in your pocket or purse you will have a massive weight to carry around everywhere you go. This is why Paul tells us to bring everything to God that is on our mind, for only then will we experience the measure of Peace in our lives the Lord intends. So, don’t wait another moment; take each and every care to the Lord - no matter how trivial they may seem - and allow Him to replace the weight of your pennies with the Peace that passes all understanding.
